FetFilm firar 1 år på Tellus

Den 8 november förra året hade FetFilm sin allra första filmvisning. För att fira vår 1-årsdag återvänder vi nu till platsen där allt startade - Biocafé Tellus.

Eftersom kalas görs bäst på film, det är sen gammalt, vill vi bjuda in er till en - något försenad - födelsedagsscreening där vi kommer att visa fem otroliga filmer som alla är gjorda någon gång under vårt första levnadsår. Biljetterna kostar 80 kronor och intäkterna går till de medverkande konstnärerna samt till Tellus Biocafé som drivs helt idéellt.

Tellus ligger på Vattenledningsvägen 46, närmaste T-banestation är Midsommarkransen. Caféet håller öppet från 17.00 och 19.00 visas första filmen.

Videoverket Automatic Writing är en experimentell samproduktion mellan musikern Erik Daghäll och animatören Siri Hagerfors. Automatic Writing suddar ut gränserna mellan lek och allvar. Videoverket är en tvärdisciplinär och intermedial film skapad genom improvisation i ett digitalt och abstrakt manér. Videoverkets syfte är att låta betraktarna sugs in i en magisk värld och förtrollas av animationen och musiken. Verklighet blandas ihop med fiktion och diffusa drömmar blir visualiserade.

Sensitive themes are treated with physical movements and sounds rather than words. Movements create images for what otherwise is difficult to touch upon, in between translations.

Filmen Aeon utspelar sig vid kalkbrottet på Limhamn nära Malmö och undersöker idéer kring hur västerländsk kunskapsproduktion relaterar till människans utvinning av naturresurser, samhällsbygge, klass strävan och alternativa metoder av läkande. I filmens ickelinjära berättarstruktur blandas strategier om att minnas och glömma med historier om att ha fler än två rätta svar, om att veta fel, om ett sökande efter kunskapsutbyten och moment där tid loopar sig. Filmens teatrala inslag för narrativet framåt och bakåt i tiden samtidigt och bärs av ljudfrekvenser som både kan läka och få oss människor att tänka an- norlunda. Kanske är ett medvetet icke-vetande vår mest radikala position för ett aktivt lärande.

Och de längtade dit och de var rädda och inte rädda alls och de visste att det var en berättelse, följd av en oläslig mening, i sin tur följd av en punkt, längre fram, någonstans mycket långt borta.

Om FetFilm

FetFilm är ett kringflyttande forum för konstfilm som startades utifrån en vilja att skapa en plattform där ny-, o- och e- tablerade filmmakare och konstnärer kan visa film på en fet duk inför en engagerad publik på en plats med rum för diskussion. Genom att ta konstfilmen ut ur gallerirummet och placera den i miljöer där den får möjlighet att breda ut sig hoppas vi kunna presentera den för en bredare publik samt utforska de parametrar rörlig bild alltid förhåller sig till, med speciellt fokus på mötet med en publik och den kollektiva upplevelse en filmvisning innebär.

Om Biocafé Tellus

Biocafé Tellus är en kvartersbiograf från 1920 som sedan 1986 drivs av en ideell kulturförening. Idag är vi ett sjuttiotal medlemmar som gör allt från att baka kakor till att laga projektorer. Föreningen är ekonomiskt och politiskt fristående.

On November 8th last year, FetFilm arranged its very first film screening. To celebrate our 1-year anniversary we’re returning to the place where it all began - Biocafé Tellus. Since celebrations are best accompanied by films, that's old news, we invite you to a belated birthday screening on January 9th, where we will show five amazing films all made within our first year of existence. The tickets cost 80 kronor, and all proceeds go to the participating artists and to Tellus Biocafé, which is run entirely on a voluntary basis. Tellus is located in Midsommarkransen at Vattenledningsvägen 46. The closest subway station is Midsommarkransen. The café is open from 17:00, and the first film will be shown at 19:00. We’re looking forward to celebrating with you!

Automatic Writing is a bubbly and magical world where reality is mixed with fiction, and diffuse dreams are visualized. The film is created through improvisation digitally and abstractly.

Aeon is situated around an old limestone quarry on Limhamn, Malmö, Sweden, and is investigating ideas around Western knowledge production, social constructions that float between practices of remembering and forgetting, and not-knowing as a radical position of learning. The narrative carries conversations around human extraction of natural resources which are framed by stories from the artist's ancestors working in the quarry and their dreams of a better life as a working class. The theatric element of the film brings the narrative simultaneously forward and backward in time and is looking for moments when time loops, moments where ritual and theater merge and allow for attempts of healing.

About FetFilm

FetFilm is a forum for artists’ moving image that was founded with the aim of creating a platform where both emerging and established filmmakers can showcase their films on a big screen in front of an engaged audience, in a space conducive to discussion. By taking video works out of gallery settings and placing them in environments where they have the possibility to expand, we hope to present them to a wider audience and explore the parameters inherent to moving images, with a particular focus on the interaction with the audience and the collective experience of watching film together.

About Biocafé Tellus

Biocafé Tellus is a neighborhood cinema dating back to 1920. Since 1986 it has been operated by a non-profit cultural association. Today, we are around seventy members involved in various activities, ranging from baking cookies to repairing projectors. The association is economically and politically independent.
